Install new locks on your own or if you prefer a professional do this just call a locksmith and they’ll have it done in no time.
Steam clean carpets
Do this before you’ve already moved your furniture in so get every square inch of carpet clean. And how great will it feel to move in knowing all the carpets fresh and clean! Save some money and ask your friends if they have a steam cleaner to borrow or you could rent one for a reasonable rate to get this done yourself. Of course you could hire a professional but most services require a minimum amount or charge per room.
Check all plumbing for leaks
Although your home inspector should have already done this for you, it never hurts to double-check. It’s unlikely you’ll find anything, but in the event you do you’ll be happy you checked. Also keep an eye out for dripping faucets and running toilets, and make sure to also check around your water heater as well as in your basement.
Wipe out the cabinets
Another simple step before you move in your dishes and bathroom supplies. Wipe inside and out with any kitchen cleaner - it’s that simple!
